The Supreme Court has a Scientific Advisory Council (SAC), established from among highly qualified experts in the area of law. The SAC prepares scholarly opinions on matters relating to the activities of the Supreme Court that require academic support.
The activities of the Scientific Advisory Council are directed by the Scientific Secretary. The Scientific Secretary prepares for and presides over meetings of the Scientific Advisory Council; determines the range of issues to be considered at its meetings; develops work plans and organizes their implementation; convenes meetings; jointly with the staff of the Supreme Court ensures the preparation of materials for meetings of the Scientific Advisory Council and its working groups; determines the procedure for the development and implementation of recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Council and its working groups; and organizes the maintenance of the Council’s documentation.

In 1994, he graduated from the Ukrainian State Law Academy (now Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University). In December 1994, he was elected a judge of a military court. He served in various positions in military courts of first instance and appellate courts until October 2010. Retired Colonel of Justice. In 1999, he defended a dissertation for the academic degree of PhD in Law (specialty: criminal procedure and criminalistics; forensic examination; operational and investigative activities). In October 2010, he was elected a judge of the High Specialized Court of Ukraine for Civil and Criminal Cases. He served as the Scientific Secretary of the Scientific Advisory Council throughout the entire period of operation of that court. In 2016, he defended a dissertation for the academic degree of LL.D. (specialty: civil law and civil procedure; family law; private international law). |

In November 2017, he was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court by the President of Ukraine. He is Judge of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court. From March 2018 to July 2019, he served as Chair of the Council of Judges of Ukraine. In March 2023, he was elected Scientific Secretary of the Scientific Advisory Council at the Supreme Court. He is the author of five monographs and more than ninety other scholarly and academic-methodological works devoted to issues of the judicial system, constitutional, criminal and civil justice and law, as well as the application by Ukrainian courts of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. |
