ABOUT THE SUPREME COURT

A moot court took place in the Supreme Court within the Fifth Annual School on the Human Rights “The Right to Access to Information in the Digital Age: Information Disorder and the Right to Privacy” organized by the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine.
Bohdan Lvov, the Vice-President of the Supreme Court and the President of the Commercial Cassation Court within the SC, thanked the event organizers for consistent support to reform of the justice system in Ukraine and promoting the formation of the society’s legal consciousness.
While addressing to the event participants, Bohdan Lvov noted that that event would promote the achievement of maximal positive result in their professional activity, would assist to get competitive advantages and to increase the quality of judicial procedure in Ukraine.
The cooperation between the Supreme Court and the Council of Europe, particularly, in the context of the execution of the ECHR judgments, testifies the serious intentions regarding the implementation of the ECHR case law through training the future generation of professionals in legal sphere. Pavlo Pushkar, Head of Division in the Department of the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights within the Directorate General of Human Rights and the Rule of Law of the Council of Europe, put emphasis on this fact.
The topics of the moot court were represented by the access to public information, criticism of public figures and protection of their reputation in the context of Articles 8-10 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
