Judges of the Supreme Court Studied Experience of Their Austrian Colleagues in Vienna

On 18–20 June 2019 judges of the Supreme Court had visit to Vienna devoted to studying case law. The event was organized by the Twinning Project “Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of the Supreme Court in the Sphere of Human Rights Protection at the National Level”, the Supreme Court and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation with the financial support of the European Union.

Ukrainian delegation consisted of the President of the Civil Cassation Court within the SC Borys Hulko and judge of this court Olena Bilokon, judge of the SC Grand Chamber Larysa Rohach, judge of the Administrative Cassation Court within the SC Tetiana Shypulina, judge of the Commercial Cassation Court within the SC Tetiana Drobotova, judge of the Criminal Cassation Court within the SC Vasyl Ohuretskyi and the Head of the SC Division for International and Legal Cooperation Lina Hubar.

Within this visit the SC judges visited the Supreme Court of Austria and familiarized with its activity.

Ukrainian delegation met with the President of the Supreme Court of Austria Dr. Elisabeth Lovrek. The Vice-President of the Court Prof. Dr. Matthias Neumayer and judge of the SC of Austria Prof. Dr. Georg Kodek have also participated in this meeting.

Representatives of the highest courts of Ukraine and Austria, particularly, have discussed the application of procedural filters, as well as the mechanisms of ensuring the uniformity of case law.
