29 march 2019, 15:34

On 28 March the President of the Supreme Court Valentyna Danishevska and the Head of the Division for International and Legal Cooperation Lina Hubar met with representatives of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) – Director of the IRZ Dr. Stefan Hülshörster, the Senior Project Manager of the IRZ Wolfram Hertig and the legal Advisor of the IRZ Hennadii Ryzhkov.

Valentyna Danishevska thanked the Foundation representatives for the fruitful cooperation, support and the possibility for Ukrainian delegation to visit the Federal Supreme Court of Germany and the Conference of the EU Superior Courts Network.

The SC President also informed about plans to hold a conference with the participation of the EU judges and judges from cassation courts within the SC in June; the Conference, particularly, will be devoted to ensuring the unity of law-enforcement practice and the implementation of procedural filters. In July judges from Germany will discuss the peculiarities of consideration of tax and customs disputes within an international conference in the Administrative Cassation Court.

Pursuant to Dr. Stefan Hülshörster in the second half of 2019 the Foundation is planning to organize professional meetings for judges of criminal, civil and commercial specializations. Herewith, the IRZ Director remarked that judges from the Supreme Court, who would wish to participate in the professional discussion, would be able to propose their own topics for discussion.

Such format of cooperation is not new for the SC, since similar events have taken place previously with the Foundation support and they were favorably accepted by judges.

Talking about the future cooperation Valentyna Danishevska noted that one of strategic tasks of the Supreme Court was represented by solving the issue of jurisdictions delineation.

Dr. Stefan Hülshörster assured that the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation was ready to promote the achievement of the outlined aims by the Supreme Court. The IRZ Director emphasized that the settlement of jurisdictional conflicts needed some time for the elaboration of certain criteria for the delineation of competences; the Foundation took it into account and cooperated in this sphere with judges from all jurisdictions.
