Supreme Court Signed Protocol on Cooperation with the USAID New Justice Program

On 20 December 2018 the President of the Supreme Court Valentyna Danishevska and the Chief of the USAID New Justice Program David Vaughn signed the Protocol on Cooperation between the Supreme Court and the USAID New Justice Program.

The cooperation is aimed at increasing trust to the judicial power, strengthening the institutional capacity of the Supreme Court and promoting the execution of judgments. The main tasks are represented by the improvement of the SC e-workflow system and the development of a program for the prevention of corruption offences in the judicial system, as well as holding trainings for judges and officials of the SC staff for their professional development. Besides, it is planned to hold regional discussions as for the uniformity of case law and the establishment of cooperation with the Supreme Court of the United States.

Ann Hopper, the Deputy Director of the Office of Democracy and Governance at USAID Mission to Ukraine and Belarus, Oleksandr Piskun, the Democracy Project Management Specialist of the Office of Democracy and Governance at USAID Mission to Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, Nataliya Petrova, the Deputy Chief of Party, Anna Sukhova, Legal and Judicial Specialist of the USAID New Justice Program, Olena Kolesnichenko, Communications Specialist of the USAID New Justice Program, and Lina Hubar, the Head of the Division for International and Legal Cooperation of the Supreme Court, also participated at the event.
