Working meeting on the specialisation of judges in children’s cases held at Bakhmach District Court of Chernihiv Region with Supreme Court judge participation

Judge of the Supreme Court in the Civil Cassation Court Pavlo Parkhomenko took part in a working meeting at the Bakhmach District Court of Chernihiv Region. The event was devoted to the implementation of a pilot project on the introduction of specialisation of judges in family and children’s cases.

The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate issues relating to the court’s participation in the pilot project and the fitting-out of a courtroom for the consideration of cases involving a child.

Pavlo Parkhomenko, representatives of the Bakhmach District Court of Chernihiv Region and the NGO All-Ukrainian Public Centre ‘Volunteer’ discussed:

• the introduction of judicial specialisation in family and children’s cases;
• the creation of a child-friendly space;
• the training of specialised professionals;
• the formation of multidisciplinary teams, and other matters.

As a reminder, the pilot project on the specialization of judges in family and children's cases is being implemented in Ukraine on the initiative of the Civil Cassation Court within the Supreme Court and the Inter-Agency Coordination Council on Juvenile Justice, with the support of the UNICEF Office in Ukraine and the NGO All-Ukrainian Public Centre "Volunteer". Since 2026 the Chernihiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia regions have joined the initiative.
