President of the Supreme Court Stanislav Kravchenko takes part in ceremonial events marking the 35th Anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s Independence

Today, 24 August 2026, ceremonial events marking Ukraine’s Independence Day took place on Sofiiska Square in the capital of Ukraine with the participation of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, high-ranking foreign guests, including the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Andy Burnham, the President of the European Council, António Costa, the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, the President of Estonia, Alar Karis, the President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Luc Frieden, and the Prime Minister of Latvia, Andris Kulbergs, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Serhii Koretskyi, representatives of diplomatic missions, the military command, Ukrainian defenders, and leaders of religious communities.

“Ukrainians will not submit to something they do not believe in. And they will certainly not abandon their dream – the dream of living independently,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised during the ceremony.

As part of the event, the President of Ukraine held a ceremony for the presentation of state awards of Ukraine, as well as battle flags and ribbons of the honourable distinction “For Courage and Valour” to military units.
