The event with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took place today, 15 July 2026, on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv in the presence of the First Lady Olena Zelenska, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the Republic of Albania Bajram Begaj, the President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu, the President of Romania Nicușor Dan, representatives of the governments of foreign states, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, members of the diplomatic corps, military leadership, churches and religious communities, as well as Ukrainian servicemen and their families.
Solemn ceremonies were held to present state awards of Ukraine, as well as passports of citizens of Ukraine to young Ukrainians who had reached the age of 14.
The event concluded with a joint prayer by representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organisations and Cardinal Matteo Zuppi for Ukraine, its people, and its defenders.
