Judges of the Supreme Court Nataliia Antoniuk and Arkadii Bushchenko, together with judges from other courts, participated in an event aimed at developing skills in international legal communication. The event was organized as part of the cooperation between Project Expedite Justice – Support for Accountability Avenues in Ukraine, Phase III, and the Supreme Court, under a Memorandum signed last summer.
Such English-language events are particularly important because they help form a unified professional approach to presenting information about international war crimes committed against Ukraine. Strengthening the international communication capacity of the judicial system is a key element in protecting Ukraine's national interests in European institutions and societies.
Communication between Ukrainian judges and their foreign counterparts on the criminal law assessment of war crimes, the correlation between provisions of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and norms of international conventions, as well as issues of collecting and evaluating evidence in war crimes proceedings (including their admissibility), is extremely important for ensuring fair justice and the effective functioning of criminal justice overall.
