After Ukraine gained its independence, it became obvious that the development of a democratic state is impossible without effective counteraction to corruption. However, many years of efforts aimed at overcoming this phenomenon, unfortunately, did not bring the desired result.
Finally, 11 years ago, a decision was made to create fundamentally new state bodies: The National Agency on Corruption Prevention and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, and later the High Anti-Corruption Court. In addition, an anti-corruption specialisation was introduced in the Criminal Cassation Court of the Supreme Court as part of a separate judicial chamber. Thus, today Ukraine has a fully formed network of anti-corruption bodies that has proven its effectiveness in practice and, in the context of the war, has demonstrated resilience in fulfilling its tasks.
This was stated by President of the Supreme Court Stanislav Kravchenko during an event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention.
The Supreme Court President also emphasised the key role of the NACP in the European integration process, as fighting corruption and ensuring the effective functioning of law enforcement agencies and the judiciary are among the top priorities of Ukraine on its way to meeting the requirements of the European Union.
In conclusion, Stanislav Kravchenko expressed his gratitude to the NACP staff for their dedicated work and wished them success in implementing important tasks that contribute to ensuring transparency, combating corruption, strengthening public trust and enhancing the authority of the authorities and the state as a whole.
