Supreme Court holds meeting with experts from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

Representatives of the Supreme Court conducted an interview with experts from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development as part of the Justice System Review in Ukraine, which is being implemented under the OECD Programme for Ukraine (2023-2027).

The Supreme Court was represented by Vitalii Urkevych, Secretary of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court, Myroslava Bilak, Supreme Court Judge of the Administrative Cassation Court, Rasim Babanly, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Supreme Court - Head of the Department for Analytical and Legal Work, Hennadii Zelenov, Deputy Head of the Department for Analytical and Legal Work, and Oksana Hunko, Chief Specialist of the Division for International Cooperation of the Supreme Court.

The OECD was represented by Chloé Lelièvre, Head of the OECD Justice and Rule of Law Division, Franciszek Ploch, Policy Analyst at the Division, and Serhii Horovenko, OECD National Consultant for the Justice System Review in Ukraine project.

Participants discussed the state of judicial independence in Ukraine and mechanisms to counter influence on the judiciary. They also focused on the organisation of judicial self-government, the financing of the judiciary in times of war, the state of administrative proceedings, and new categories of cases that have arisen in the wake of the full-scale invasion.

These review meetings with project stakeholders provide an opportunity to discuss preliminary findings and recommendations for the implementation of the OECD Programme for Ukraine (2023-2027).
