Annual international forum on intellectual property issues for judges held

Judges of the Judicial Chamber on Cases on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights and Cases Related with Anti-Monopoly and Competition Legislation of the Commercial Cassation Court of the Supreme Court Ihor Benedysiuk, Iryna Kolos, Tetiana Malashenkova, Anatolii Yemets, Tetiana Zhaivoronok and judges of the appellate and local commercial courts took part in the Forum on Intellectual Property for Judges. The event, traditionally organised by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), was held in Geneva (Swiss Confederation) on 9-10 October 2024.

The WIPO Forum is an annual event organised by the WIPO Judicial Institute to provide judges from around the world with a platform to exchange experiences on the most pressing issues in the field of intellectual property. Each year the Forum brings together some 400 judges representing national and regional jurisdictions.

The programme of the event covered a wide range of relevant and important topics: advanced technologies and judicial settlement of intellectual property disputes, current issues of patent enforcement, cooperation between WIPO and judicial authorities, experiences of different jurisdictions in resolving disputes concerning confidential information and trade secrets, legal protection of trademarks and service marks, application of exceptions and limitations in the field of copyright and related rights, permanent injunctions, functioning of the EU Single Patent Court (based on the results of its first year of operation), international experience and advantages of specialisation of judges in IP disputes, consideration of cross-border IP litigation.
