In cooperation with the Supreme Court, the first seminar ‘Justice, Law and Society’ for judges was organised by the Aspen Institute Kyiv NGO with the support of the OSCE and the Council of Europe project ‘Support to the Judiciary in Ukraine in the Context of War and Post-War Period’.

This is the first exclusively judicial Aspen seminar for judges of general jurisdiction courts, specialised courts, the High Anti-Corruption Court, the Supreme Court, as well as representatives of the High Council of Justice and the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine.

The Supreme Court was represented by judges of the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court Kostiantyn Pilkov and Olha Buleiko, judge of the Civil Cassation Court of the Supreme Court Yevhen Synelnykov and judge of the Administrative Cassation Court of the Supreme Court Nataliia Martyniuk.

Among other things, the participants discussed issues related to miscarriages of justice and judicial discretion, as well as practical issues related to the interpretation of the Constitution of Ukraine, guarantees of judicial control over the observance of the rights of persons in detention, and the development of the case law of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in general.
