The Supreme Court starts cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organisation to create IP manual for judges

21 june 2024, 16:45

As part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Supreme Court and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) signed in November 2023, work has begun on the development of an Intellectual Property Benchbook for Ukraine. The decision to create such a manual arose as a result of discussions during the inaugural session of the WIPO Workshop on Intellectual Property Adjudication for Members of the Ukrainian Judiciary.

The Supreme Court will work on the development of the manual together with WIPO, which will coordinate this cooperation through its Judicial Institute, actively involving the Section for Central European and Baltic States and Mediterranean Countries, as well as other relevant divisions.

Initially, the existing materials provided by the Supreme Court will be analysed, after which the next stages of work on the manual will be planned.

"We are sincerely grateful for the ongoing cooperation between the Supreme Court and WIPO, which includes Ukraine's participation in WIPO Lex-Judgments and this seminar. We look forward to strengthening our partnership," said WIPO Assistant Director General Marco M. Alemán.
