The United Kingdom has always been a reliable partner of Ukraine, and now its military and technical aid, as well as support for the development of our country as a democratic and legal state, are of great value in the context of a full-scale war.
The statement was made by Stanislav Kravchenko, President of the Supreme Court, during a meeting with Martin Harris, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Ukraine.
The President of the Supreme Court thanked the United Kingdom for its support and briefed the Ambassador on the state of judicial proceedings in Ukraine, focusing on problematic issues, including the lack of personnel in the judicial system and the resulting excessive workload of judges, as well as the receipt of new categories of cases related to the war.
The President of the Supreme Court also outlined the range of priority tasks currently facing the judiciary. First and foremost, this means optimizing the court network by aligning it with the administrative and territorial structure of the state, developing clear and consistent jurisprudence, and ensuring full transparency of court operations and adequate protection of investors' rights.
According to Martin Harris, a strong judicial system is an important element of the country's defence against the aggressor, and the UK is ready to establish constructive cooperation with Ukraine, including in the field of justice. In addition, the further implementation of judicial reform in Ukraine is an extremely important issue for British investors who are interested in actively participating in the process of post-war reconstruction of our country.
The Ambassador also assured that the United Kingdom, as a key partner of Ukraine, will continue to support Ukraine in its development as a state governed by the rule of law and upholding the highest standards and principles of democracy.
