SC judges take part in the annual international forum on intellectual property for judges

Ihor Benedysiuk and Iryna Bulhakova, judges of the Judicial Chamber on Cases on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights and Cases Related with Anti-Monopoly and Competition Legislation of the Commercial Cassation Court of the Supreme Court, took part in the Intellectual Property Forum for Judges. The event, traditionally organised by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), was held in Geneva (Swiss Confederation) on 15-16 November 2023.

The WIPO Forum is an annual event organised by the WIPO Judicial Institute to provide a platform for judges from around the world to exchange views on the most pressing intellectual property issues arising from the accelerating pace of innovation and the transnational use of intellectual property. Each year the Forum brings together some 400 judges representing national and regional jurisdictions.

The programme of this year's event covered a wide range of relevant and important topics: legal protection of industrial designs, trademarks, geographical indications, IP and competition issues, generative AI algorithms, IP and the metaverse, peculiarities of evidence in IP cases, simplified procedures for resolving IP disputes, mediation as an alternative dispute resolution tool.
