The President of the Supreme Court, Stanislav Kravchenko, took part in the colloquium of the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union, dedicated to the discussion of issues related to ensuring the uniformity of case law and solutions to internal divergences, as well as in the meeting of the General Assembly of the Network.
The opening speeches and presentations were delivered by Elisabeth Lovrek, President of the Supreme Court of Austria, Bettina Limperg, President of the Federal Court of Justice of Germany and President of the Network of Presidents of the EU Supreme Judicial Courts, and Beatrijs Deconinck, First President of the Court of Cassation of Belgium.
As part of his working visit, the President of the Supreme Court also attended a joint meeting of members, associate members and observers of the Network, the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. The speakers of the first session of the event, entitled "The judicial dialogue: fundamental rights issues in court judgments", were Bettina Limperg, President of the Court of Justice of the EU Koen Lenaerts, President of the ECtHR Síofra O’Leary and President of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands Dineke de Groot.
The second session of the meeting, featuring speakers such as Andreas Kumin, Judge of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Gabriele Kucsko-Stadlmayer, Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, and Donal O'Donnell, President of the Supreme Court of Ireland, was dedicated to the impact of artificial intelligence on the work of courts and the administration of justice.
The General Assembly of the Network, which was convened on the occasion of the Colloquium on 9 November 2023, unanimously elected a new Board and the President of the Network. Anders Eka, the President of the Supreme Court of Sweden, became the new President of the Network.
In addition, the General Assembly also unanimously decided to grant the Supreme Court of Serbia observer status to the Network.
We would like to remind you that on 14 October 2022, the Supreme Court was granted observer status in the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union by the decision of the General Assembly of the Network.
