On October 17–20, 2022, Helsinki (the Republic of Finland) hosted the XI Conference of the International Association for Court Administration (IACA) “People-Centered Justice Is the New Normal”.
More than 200 representatives from more than 40 countries of the world took part in the event. The conference participants exchanged experience on the most important and relevant topics on the agenda of the global judicial community: artificial intelligence and court administration, tools for strengthening and developing the rule of law, overcoming threats to the rule of law based on respect for human rights and democracy.
Special attention was paid to Ukraine, which, despite the war with the Russian Federation, was able to adapt the work of the judiciary in these extremely difficult conditions and actively continues the process of implementing reforms that bring our state closer to full membership in the European Union.
SC Judge Ivan Mishchenko, speaking at the first session, shared his practical experience in implementing projects that the Supreme Court had initiated and continued to implement.
These are, in particular, the Database of Legal Positions of the Supreme Court (https://lpd.court.gov.ua), with the help of which you can perform a full-text search for the necessary judicial case law or search by keywords, as well as a project for writing decisions of the Supreme Court in plain language and according to a new structure.
He noted that both of these projects were part of the same whole. The quality of information and open access to it is an absolute progress towards strengthening and establishing the rule of law.
Ivan Mishchenko also expressed his gratitude to all international partners for their support and assistance in the fight against Russian aggression.
