ABOUT THE SUPREME COURT
FOR CITIZENS
ACTIVITY
PRESS-CENTER
In early March of this year, we reported that as a result of massive bombing and artillery shelling, the court received significant damage (see: https://cutt.ly/jVK6kKP). From the beginning of April to September 2022, the city of Izium was under the control of Russian invaders.
After the deoccupation of the city, it is possible to preliminarily estimate the amount of destruction of the Izium City District Court of the Kharkiv region. The building of the court is in a state of emergency, and the leadership of the institution is looking for opportunities either to restore it or to organize the court on other premises.
According to the President of the Izium City District Court Oleksandr Hertsov, at the earliest opportunity, he went to inspect the building and assess the extent of the damage. The representatives of the Court Security Service also visited Izium. The President of the court, together with the representatives of the Court Security Service, is considering the ways to ensure the protection of the cases remaining in the court.
We would like to remind you that the court is located on the ground floor of a five-storey building. According to Oleksandr Hertsov, the court premises were partially damaged: as a result of the fire, several courtrooms and offices were burned down, others were looted and smashed. "Stolen equipment, broken furniture, torn panels on the walls, all the windows broken, electricity damaged. Even the radiators are broken," he said. He also drew attention to the occupiers' signature style - the wash basin was stolen.
