The President of the Supreme Court Valentyna Danishevska met with the Director of the Ukrainian-Canadian Support to Judicial Reform Project Lubomyr Markevych. The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Division of International and Legal Cooperation Lina Hubar.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the preliminary results of cooperation in the framework of the Project, which ends in November this year.
Among the main achievements of the Project is the preparation of a course on improving the writing of judgments, which has successfully been launched for judges of the Supreme Court. The President of the Supreme Court stressed the importance of extending the course to judges of appeal and local courts as well.
The unity of case law and the use of filters in the Supreme Court remain high on the future agenda.
The Director of the Ukrainian-Canadian Support to Judicial Reform Project confirmed Canada's readiness for further cooperation and focused on the dissemination of Canadian experience on gender issues in legal proceedings.
At the end of the meeting, Valentyna Danishevska thanked the Canadian partners for their support and understanding, and expressed the hope that bilateral cooperation would continue successfully.
