Ethics Council to Publish Video Recordings of All Interviews

On August 21, the Ethics Council convened and decided to publish the recordings of all past interviews with candidates for the position of a member of the High Council of Justice and sitting members of the High Council of Justice.

"The Ethics Council takes into account that Ukraine is under martial law, which increases the requirements for the public authorities to protect the rights and interests of people. At the same time, in view of the changing situation, a significant amount of information about the candidates in open sources, and the principle of openness, the Ethics Council has decided to publish video recordings of interviews with candidates for the position of a member of the High Council of Justice and sitting members of the High Council of Justice held from May 4, 2022 to April 7, 2023 on the official web portal of the Judiciary of Ukraine", said Lev Kyshakevych, Chairman of the Ethics Council.

He stated that the candidates for the position of an HCJ member and sitting HCJ members can send to the Ethics Council substantiated requests not to publish the interviews until August 31, 2023.

"Until August 31, 2023 the candidates for the position of a member of the High Council of Justice and sitting members of the High Council of Justice may send to the Ethics Council a substantiated request if there are grounds preventing the publication of video recordings of their interviews. Such requests will be reviewed at a session of the Ethics Council with a follow-up decision to be made later", said Lev Kyshakevych.

The Ethics Council also decided to admit to interviews the candidates for the position of a member of the High Council of Justice from the Congress of Academics.

In total, 13 candidates have been admitted to the interview stage, namely:

4. Oksana Oleksandrivna Kvasha
5. Oleh Viktorovych Rozhnov
6. Vladyslav Ivanovych Teremetskyi
7. Volodymyr Ivanovych Korol
8. Ihor Vasyliovych Kovbas
9. Vasyl Ivanovych Felik
10. Ivan Volodymyrovych Nazarov
11. Natalia Petrivna Syza
12. Iryna Ihorivna Davydovych
13. Oleksiy Volodymyrovych Oderiya.

All six members of the Ethics Council took part in the session remotely via video conference and unanimously supported all the agenda items.
