The Ethics Council has admitted 35 candidates for positions of members of the High Council of Justice. Among them are candidates nominated by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Congress of Representatives of Higher Education and Research Institutions for Law and Legal Studies, and the Congress of Judges of Ukraine. In addition, the Ethics Council has refused the admission of one candidate to the interview and postponed its decision on admission or refusal of admission for another candidate who is subject to additional check.
The Ethics Council has met today, 21 December 2021, for its official session to adopt this decision.
Candidates for positions of the HCJ members are assessed for their compliance with the professional ethics and integrity criteria in line with the Rules of Procedure and Methodology. The Ethics Council approved these documents at its previous meeting on 9 December 2021.
